The women’s role, the condition characteristic of today’s Hungarian women with excessive work, cannot be compared with the Western idea. The traditional family model and the traditional allocation of gender roles are still alive today in Hungary and in the surrounding countries, in complete contrast to modern challenges. In my pictures, I analyze the changes in women’s roles through the visual language of objects. The characters of the Mother, the Woman, the Worker, the Sexual Symbol, the Head of the Household were blurred. In addition to working, women have retained their reproductive function, which means not only bringing the child into the world, but also providing for it, caring for it, and raising it. The joint performance of these two tasks naturally entails the possibility of individual, family, and workplace conflicts. Meanwhile, Hungarian politics promotes the exact opposite of this and tries to cement the traditional image of women’s roles with its laws and regulations.
